In 1906, Salvator Catalano migrated to New York from Calabria, Italy. Pushing a fruit cart through the streets was hardly enough to make ends meet for this father of three. With the help of some good friends and hard work, he opened a small grocery store on the east side of Manhattan. On Sundays, he would invite his friends and neighbors for dinner, where they would eat and discuss ways of helping each other work towards improving themselves as well as the neighborhood. As years passed, his business grew from a simple grocery store into a restaurant. Desperately in need of more space, he expanded into a warehouse next door. It grew to be a very successful family business based on the concept of good food, affordable prices, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, what came to be knows as the Original Italian Warehouse no longer exists.

Three generations later, the family traditions are still alive here at New York & Chicago Pizza Co.
